Cheating Versus Strategy
Strategy is the plan or goal you set for yourself in order to win a board game. It consists of making decisions and taking actions a certain way in order to outmaneuver your opponent and be victorious. Ethically speaking, this can include logical deductions, analyzing patterns, understanding your opponent’s intentions, and leveraging opportunities.
Cheating on the other hand is purposely subverting the rules of any game with the intention of gaining an unfair advantage. This can include using marked cards or pieces, palming resources off the board, stacking decks or dice rolls, peeking at cards without others knowing, counting moves without drawing attention to it, etc. It should be noted that cheating can lead to civil lawsuits and criminal charges depending on what type of game it is.

They might argue that sometimes it can be necessary to gain an advantage on the other players in order to win.
